Tips For Eating Out While Trying To Lose Weight
Most people think that they have to ruin their diet or get of track when they go out to eat, but it’s really not true. you just have to be wise about the choices you make. Here are some tips to remember when you are trying to lose weight and you find yourself at a restaurant.
*Skip the bread basket. In fact, if no one minds at your table, ask the waiter not to even bring the bread out. This will save you tons of empty calories.
*When looking at the menu, try to stick with options that say grilled, steamed, or baked. Avoid menu items that say fried, deep-fried, sauteed, or breaded.
*When ordering pasta or sauces, avoid white, creamy sauces. They are loaded with calories.
*Don’t be afraid to ask if you an change something from what the menu says. If you want your chicken grilled instead of fried, asked for it. If you want a vegetable instead of rice, then ask for a substitution. Most restaurants will not have a problem with it.
*Order a salad or soup for your appetizer to help fill you up. Keep your dressing on the side and use it sparingly or order a low calorie dressing.
*When your meal arrives, ask for a to-go box right away and immediately put half of your meal in the box and eat it later. The portions at restaurants are usually at least double the size you should be eating.
*Avoid drinking alcohol with you meal. Alcohol are wasted calories and it can lower your inhibitions and make you eat more.
*If all else fails and you find that you did over-eat, don’t get discouraged and just hop right back on the weight loss track.
These are all good tips. It’s so hard to skip the bread basket sometimes, but I definitely feel good about myself when I do manage to tell the waiter to take it away.
