Eating out for lunch will not fit into your weight loss plan. There is way too many hidden calories and sugars in foods that are prepared outside of your kitchen. Instead, you will need to brown-bag your lunch when you are trying to lose weight. Here are some great ideas for healthy lunches that you can bring to work.

1. Turkey or other lean lunch meat on whole wheat bread. Pack your veggies in for your sandwich in a separate bag so that you don’t get the sandwich soggy. Do not use mayonnaise, but if you want some extra flavor add a little bit of mustard. Think lots of veggies for your sandwich such as tomato, lettuce, onion, and peppers.

2. Tuna fish with whole wheat crackers. If you have to have mayonnaise mixed in with your tuna, then try just a little bit of the lower fat version of mayonnaise. Add some onion and celery into the tuna to add some more flavor.

3. Salad always makes a great lunch. Pack all the vegetables and fruits for your salad in one container and the dressing in another. Make sure that you use a healthier dressing such as a vinaigrette based one. Avoid white salad dressings such as ranch and Caesar.

4. Fruit goes well with just about anything. Pack any type of fruit you like for a snack or to add some sweetness to your lunch.

5. Hard boiled eggs are a great protein source and will help you to feel full during the afternoon.

6. Leftovers are always a great option for healthy brown-bag lunch. If you made a healthy dinner last night, why not eat it again for lunch. Or make some extra vegetables for dinner and take them to work the next day for lunch in a wrap or salad.
