100 Calorie Packs: A Positive or Negative For Weight Loss?
It seems like every time I go to the grocery store, they have some new 100 calorie pack of some food. They have everything from Oreo wafers to popcorn to fruit snacks. Many people buy these 100 calorie packs thinking that they can help with weight loss and eating habits. The more I think about this though, 100 calorie packs have more negative aspects than positive ones for weight loss.
Let’s look at both:
Positive:
* They are only a 100 calories and that is pretty a good amount of calories for a snack.
*They are basically portion control all done for you already.
*They can satisfy cravings that you may have.
Negative:
*The portions of the 100 calorie snacks are usually not enough to fill up you for a snack. This means that you are going to have to go hungry or eat more than one bag of the snacks. I know that when I have bought some of these 100 calorie packs in the past, one bag never filled me up.
*You could have a much more filling and nutritious snack for 100 calories.
*Just because it may be lower in calories doesn’t mean it’s healthy or is providing you with any nutritional value.
*Many of these 100 calorie packs contain foods that have sugar and white flour in them, which when consumed can actually make you hungrier instead of feeling full.
So, in my opinion, 100 calorie packs are not that great for weight loss. Why not satisfy your sweet tooth with a piece of fruit or even yogurt rather than a cookie. 100 calorie packs are not nutritious and most do not have any vitamins or nutrients that you need to keep your metabolism stable. What is your take on 100 calorie packs?
